Aquarium in City Museum passes inspection, to remain open, say operators

ST. LOUIS • The World Aquarium has passed a federal re-inspection, after a series of violations for poor sanitation, murky water and unfed animals, operators said.

The nonprofit facility, inside downtown’s popular City Museum, announced Saturday that “all previous non-compliant inspections items” were corrected and that the aquarium would remain “open for business” at least through the summer. Its president said he expected to open in a new location sometime after Labor Day.

Amanda Owens, an inspector with the U.S. Department of Agriculture, revisited on Friday, according to the aquarium’s statement.
