Aquarium of Niagara welcomes rescued harbor seal pup

NIAGARA FALLS – A five-month-old Pacific harbor seal pup abandoned by his mother off the coast of northern California has found a home at Aquarium of Niagara.

Now known as “Pup 2014,” the male harbor seal was born blind and still had his umbilical cord when staff from The Marine Mammal Center, of Sausalito, found him, according to Aquarium officials. The pup joined the Aquarium’s collection of five other seals and sea lions, and will live in an outdoor pool with Sandy, another harbor seal.
