Aquarium Put Into Place in Center in the Square

Roanoke, VA – A big addition to the new Center in the Square in Roanoke was lifted into place Thursday.

This 5,500 gallon living reef aquarium is being installed in the atrium of the building.

How will they get it in? It’s placed on a block of ice, which will melt and slowly lower the aquarium into place. That’s the only way they can get the crane straps off the tank.

The aquarium, the largest of its kind in the mid-Atlantic, is one of the center pieces of the remodeled Center in the Square building. That’s set to open in May 2013.
