Aquarium releases 5 rehabilitated seal pups into Howe Sound

Home sweet home.

The Vancouver Aquarium has released seven seal pups back into the wild – but not without fitting them with satellite tracking tags first.

The pups were released into Howe Sound near the Sea-to-Sky Highway Wednesday morning.

The Aquarium’s Marine Mammal Rescue Centre equipped five of the animals with the tiny transmitters to keep track of the pups’ movements.

The devices will send data on the seals’ travel patterns and progress back to the Aquarium’s veterinary team following their release.
