Aquarium vets probe death of sea turtle found off Cape

New England Aquarium staff are looking into whether a 567-pound leatherback sea turtle spotted by a boater in the waters off Falmouth on Sunday died from natural causes or from entanglement in marine gear.

The young adult, which had a buoy and line attached to its front flipper, was off-loaded by forklift at the Aquarium’s Animal Care Center in Quincy yesterday, where a necropsy was performed, said spokesman Tony LaCasse.
