Dolphin family ordered moved from cramped Italian aquarium

ROME, Sept. 14 (UPI) — Four dolphins held at an aquatic facility in Rimini, Italy, have been transferred to another aquarium because the mammals’ enclosure was too small.

A court ordered the transfer after authorities found the animals’ enclosure at the Rimini Dolphinarium was too confined, causing one of three younger dolphins to become ill, Italy’s ANSA news agency reported. Friday.

The female dolphin and the juvenile dolphins were taken to an aquarium in Genoa.

They were sedated to reduce the stress of being moved from the east coast of the country to the west coast, authorities said.
