Florida Aquarium preps for Guppyween with pumpkin fun

The Florida Aquarium is getting ready for its annual Halloween event, Guppyween, by giving some of its aquatic animals a fall treat.

At 1:30 p.m. Thursday, the aquarium’s otters, octopus and certain other animals will be given pumpkins to eat and play with as part of the facility’s animal enrichment efforts.

At 2 p.m., divers will don Halloween costumes for an underwater pumpkin-carving contest inside the aquarium’s Coral Reef Gallery, surrounded by 500,000 gallons of water and more than 2,000 tropical fish, including sharks.

Both events are included with regular admission to the aquarium.
