New penguin exhibit marches on at Falls aquarium

In about 12 months, the seven Humboldt penguins residing at the Aquarium of Niagara will have a new home, with plenty of room to grow their colony.

Officials from the aquarium and the community officially broke ground Friday on the new $3.3 million penguin exhibit, which has been in the making for nearly two years. The 1,500-square-foot exhibit will feature a 20-foot viewing window with a natural rock habitat with nesting locations for the penguins, and will be accompanied by an interactive classroom, which will be located to the right of the exhibit.
