Vancouver Aquarium asks public to be “whale wise,” report sightings for research

As boating season gets well underway, the Vancouver Aquarium is reminding the public to be “whale wise.�

When out on the water, some might catch a glimpse of cetaceans such as whales, dolphins, porpoises, or sea turtles.

The aquarium is asking for all sights to be reported to the Vancouver Aquarium’s B.C. Cetacean Sightings Network so researchers can keep track of the species’ movements to help with conservation and recovery actions.

But they’re also giving advice on how to safely take in the wildlife.
